Full Day Absence
We will mark all absences as unexcused until a parent either:
-
calls the attendance office, or
-
sends a parent-signed note to provide a reason for the absence to the attendance office, or
-
sends medical or court documentation to the attendance office within three school days of the absence.
Late Arrival to School
A student who arrives late should do the following:
-
Students coming from an appointment (medical or dental) or other excusable reason (court) will sign in at the attendance office. We request he/she bring a note from the provider to excuse the absence. If necessary, we will accept a note from a parent. The parent note should include the date, the student’s full name, the excusable reason for late arrival, and the parent’s signature and daytime phone number.
All transportation related tardies that are not school bus related are unexcused. This includes car trouble, accidents, train delays, and late rides. Students who elect to arrive by private transportation should allow extra time for bad traffic conditions or other problems.
Other unexcused reasons for being late include, but are not limited to, oversleeping, “not feeling well this morning,” completing school work, transporting family members, and providing care for a sibling.
Early Dismissal from School
We strongly encourage you to schedule all appointments after school hours. If an early dismissal is necessary, please do the following:
1. The student may drop off a parent note at the attendance office before school.
2. The student may pick up his/her pass for dismissal from the attendance office anytime after Flex. *
3. The student may quietly leave class at the time designated on the pass. (The student is not called from class.)
4. The student may sign out at the attendance office. A parent is not required to come into the school.
* Note: If a student has a note for dismissal prior to 10:15 a.m., he/she should request the pass before school.
